Let me bring your vision to life with one-of-a-kind abstract art.

LET’S DISCUSS YOUR DREAM

Hello!!

Hello, fellow art lover.

I’m Rebecca, the paintbrush-wielding, joyful-laugh-loving artist behind Rebecca Thompson Art. I’m so glad you’re here and that you see art as the wonderful investment that it is – an expression of your creative spirit and something that can instantly transform your space. Whether you’re shopping for a single piece or would like to commission a collection of my paintings for your business, I’m here to help create magic around you.

SEE THE WORK THAT LIGHTS ME UP

A bit about me …

As a teenager living in a foreign country (Tromsø, Norway), coldness and darkness were all too familiar to me. It was here, 3,403 miles from my now-home in Maine, that my desire to paint emerged. I also learned a valuable lesson: when you listen to your intuition, you can always find your light.

While I continued painting into adulthood, it didn’t become my “day job” until recently. Instead, I spent over 20 years doing psychiatric services and was a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Throughout this time, my inner teenager was still there, following her light – but the path became so much clearer when the pandemic hit.

During this time, I took my love for abstract expressionism to new heights.

I changed from oils to acrylics and increased my practice from three to four times per week, to three to eight hours a day, five to seven days per week. What was once more of a hobby is now my full-time and prolific passion.

Luckily, I have the perfect place to bring my art to life. Several years ago, my husband and I dared to build our dream home on the coast of Maine. With big, glorious windows and the water at our doorstep, it’s the ultimate playground for creativity. On any given day you can find me walking my dogs in the Maine woods, sailing in Casco Bay, painting on the beach, swinging in my aerial hammock, and of course, painting in my beautiful home studio.

But despite the many pivots and turns in my life, I’m most proud of what I’ve been able to model to my children. They’ve watched me work hard and achieve success in a career, only to then dismantle that identity and rearrange the pieces in a joyful way. Molding myself in my own colors, in shades that I chose. If the single mom from 15 years ago could see me now, she’d pinch herself, as I often do.

I hope you’ll join me as I continue pinching myself, giggling with bubbly laughter at the beautiful life I get to live, painted with colors from my very own paintbrush.
